The Eliot Jumper - or ‘Gansey’ jumper - in midnight navy takes its name from novelist and poet Mary Anne Evans, aka George Eliot.

With a truly Midlands upbringing, Eliot regularly visited and stayed in the Peak District. In fact, many of her novels were written while visiting the area ("Silas Marner" was written in a picturesque cottage in Wirksworth, Derbyshire). Not only that, the Midlands proved to be a regular inspiration to her when writing her novels and creating their characters.

Ganseys (or ‘Guernseys’) are steeped in maritime history.

Known  as the 'fishersmans jumper', they were an integral and invaluable item of clothing for sailors and fishermen, especially those who were based along the Eastern Coast of the UK.

Our ganseys have dropped shoulders and a traditional square stand-up collar, with a unique detail on the shoulders.
